The idea of going to university can be daunting at times…….in fact the most nerve-wracking and exciting feeling all at the same time.
This is a phase in your life where you truly find yourself, experience new things and increase your network of people. You be asking……..So how do you make friends and come out of your comfort zone?
Head Out and EXPLORE!
One thing I massively regret is not taking an adventurous stroll around my area before I was swamp with deadlines and responsibilities.
You may have researched interesting events/places in the area of your university but nothings beats taking unplanned strolls with no destination in mind. “It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves – in finding themselves” – Andre Gide
Attend as many Fresher’s Events
As a Christian I didn’t think i could participate the the Fresher’s hype…….however I later found out i was completely wrong. I attended many church activities such as Games Nights, Open Mic Night and many other day events. And I actually met some of my good friends from fresher’s fair church events.
Meet us #ignitestudents at Royal Holloway Fresher’s Fayre on the 18th and 19th September…. and check out our calendar for more upcoming events.
Don’t Be Someone You Are Not
ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!
“Finding yourself” doesn’t mean look to others in order to fit in. In fact this simply mean be confident in who you truly are and expressing that. The people around you should therefore be able to accept that.
For example Ignite FOWM is full of many Royal Holloway students who are passionate and diverse individuals striving to grow in faith and maximize their potential to fulfill their destiny. We inspire each other to grow in faith and be the best we can be……..not be someone we are not!
Now that the exam season is almost to an end you probably have MANY questions running through your stressed minds, questions like ‘how well did I do on those exams?’, ‘will the revision and hard work I’ve put in for soo long pay off?’, ‘what do I do with myself after the results come out?’. these questions and many more must be going through your head and you are fully aware of how taxing that is to your peace and well being.
God doesn’t want us to spend our energies worrying about our lives and how things are gonna work out instead he would rather us use that same energy into trusting him with our future :). Be encouraged by this verse and learn to trust in it! check out the link to this message from Rev Kola Ewousho called ‘Getting results by the word‘. May God richly bless you
There are times in our lives when we need to set time out of our busy schedules and use that time for prayer and fasting. This greatly helps us to seek God for many things like wisdom, answers to questions we have for him, strength to continue in life etc. Maybe your a student who wants strength to continue studying for your exams or you need wisdom on how to go about it. Maybe your someone who needs to know what God says about a relationship you are hoping for.
Whatever the reason you should join us at Harvestime Church for prayer and fasting and since today is the second day you still have time to come along for 7pm tonight and 7pm tomorrow. We are sending you a free MP3 downloadable message on ‘BEING PERSISTENT IN PRAYER’ to encourage you and fire you up as we prepare to meet together to seek God’s face. We trust you’ll be blessed by it! Click here: http://estore.fowm.org/download429127331/CD12005-Be-Persistent-in-Prayer-(CD-Master)-MP3.mp3
May God bless you 🙂
