The idea of going to university can be daunting at times…….in fact the most nerve-wracking and exciting feeling all at the same time.
This is a phase in your life where you truly find yourself, experience new things and increase your network of people. You be asking……..So how do you make friends and come out of your comfort zone?
Head Out and EXPLORE!
One thing I massively regret is not taking an adventurous stroll around my area before I was swamp with deadlines and responsibilities.
You may have researched interesting events/places in the area of your university but nothings beats taking unplanned strolls with no destination in mind. “It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves – in finding themselves” – Andre Gide
Attend as many Fresher’s Events
As a Christian I didn’t think i could participate the the Fresher’s hype…….however I later found out i was completely wrong. I attended many church activities such as Games Nights, Open Mic Night and many other day events. And I actually met some of my good friends from fresher’s fair church events.
Meet us #ignitestudents at Royal Holloway Fresher’s Fayre on the 18th and 19th September…. and check out our calendar for more upcoming events.
Don’t Be Someone You Are Not
ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!
“Finding yourself” doesn’t mean look to others in order to fit in. In fact this simply mean be confident in who you truly are and expressing that. The people around you should therefore be able to accept that.
For example Ignite FOWM is full of many Royal Holloway students who are passionate and diverse individuals striving to grow in faith and maximize their potential to fulfill their destiny. We inspire each other to grow in faith and be the best we can be……..not be someone we are not!
